Reference staff are available to speak to your class or create an online tutorial about research strategies and sources.
Please note that during the 2022-2023 academic year, the reference team anticipates being short staffed. As a result, we may not be able to accommodate all in-person teaching requests. We can, however, always create tailored self-guided research tutorials for your students, as well as host librarian office hours for Q & A. Remember that students can also always make one-on-one appointments with a member of the reference team to consult on any aspect of the research process. To inquire about availability for in-person sessions, office hours, or tutorials, please email us at lawref@uw.edu.
We also invite you to include a note in your syllabus about how we can help your students. We've included sample language below but please get in touch if you’d like us to write up something more specific for your class:
The reference librarians are legal research experts who are dedicated to helping students with research questions, database training, locating academic resources, etc. Visit the library’s UW Law Students page for more information about their services generally. To get help, you can email the Public Services librarians directly at lawref@uw.edu (open virtually 9am-7pm M-Th; 9am-4pm Fri). You are also welcome to visit the Reference Office to speak with the librarian on duty between noon and 4 every weekday. If you have a detailed research question or would prefer to meet privately with a librarian, you may set up an individual appointment.
